Ronald McDonald Family House
The Scott Partnership is delighted to support the Ronald McDonald Family House at Europe’s biggest children’s hospital, Alder Hey in Merseyside. The house, which provides a ‘home away from home’ to families of sick children in the hospital, opened in 1993 with just 26 rooms but thanks to the charitable donations and works of families and corporate supporters has expanded over the years to 69 rooms.
In its most recent development the charity has been able to open an additional15 apartments for long-stay families thanks to the many families who together have raised over £1million to support this growth. These families are able to stay for as long as the treatment of their child takes, from just a few days up to a couple of years. Their children have a wide range of conditions – some have heart problems, others have cancer or leukaemia, some need neurosurgery. Many children are in hospital as a result of a serious accident and range in age from newly delivered babies right through to 18 years. It was real tribute to those families and supporters that HRH The Duchess of Cambridge elected to visit Alder Hey on Valentine’s Day 2012 to formally open the apartment wing and meet the many children and families who gathered to greet her.
As a respected healthcare communications brand it is The Scott Partnership’s pleasure to share our knowledge and expertise with this worthy cause via the provision of a Board Trustee and marketing communications support to ensure the charity secures the vital £500K it needs annually to keep its doors open.
